Meet Revolutionary Woman: MELINDA PALACIOS, an author and poet who shares how she coped with her mother's passing while pursuing a PhD program in Santa Cruz. She left her academic life to begin writing her own stories; she writes about her mother, her childhood, her grandmother and growing up in South Central, Los Angeles. She describes how writing pulled her out of a deep depression and helped her overcome the difficulty of having lost her mother at the age of twenty-four.
